Our whole family likes to use cups with lids and straws because we carry our drinks all over the house and outside. We've used the clear plastic design for years but they tend to break or get water between the two sections within a few months so I was looking for something more durable. We've had these stainless steel cups for a few months and so far we love them. The 20oz size easily holds about a 16oz soda with ice and the drink stays cold for hours! Thank goodness for the silicone sleeve because the outside gets very cold too. We haven't used them for hot drinks but you can. The cups easily go in the dishwasher. And the top allows you to either use a straw or drink from the side. I didn't rate them on whether they are leak proof because we do not have children in the house and I haven't had a reason to test whether they leak if knocked over. The lid does not screw on so I would assume the lid would pop off if the cup were dropped. But, if you dropped the clear plastic ones they would break easily so it wouldn't matter that the lid stayed screwed on. These stainless steel cups are definitely sturdier and will last a lot longer than the clear plastic version. The straws may take a little getting used to because they're soft and flexible silicone instead of hard plastic. Some in our family love them and others prefer the traditional hard plastic...both fit the cups so it doesn't matter much.
