We received this stove as a grandparent gift from family. We purchased this screen for the top and it is perfect for our needs. The quality is first rate. We love that the screen is in two sections. The top of the screen is easy to lift off safely with the stainless steel guild sticks that came with it. Removing the top section allows easy adding of additional wood and also works great when we roast Marshmallows for S’mores! The screen sections work just right to help keep embers contained. Extremely Satisfied with this purchase! Love this Stove!It works as intended but let’s be honest it’s a steep price as is all solo stove stuff. Not sure why someone hasn’t started making knock offs yet.It’s like a whole new fire pit with the guard! A must have if you have pets or children.Really satisfied with the Solo Ranger shield! This size Solo and its shield very adequately puts out heat and prevents harmful escaping sparks extremely well. 4 of us sat around this size fire pit with adequate space and warmth for all.The shield itself is pretty good. It doesn’t hinder the design of the stove, the heat still comes off really well, and stops most large particles coming off the fire. Where it has issues is the handle design to lift off the top. The two poles it comes with to lift off the top are unnecessary and clunky. It feels really awkward performing which is not comforting knowing what you’re lifting is extremely hot. It would be better if there was a single instrument used to lift the top, like a central handle on the top, rather than juggling the two side handles.Starting to showing spotty signs of rust?Packed very well, everything, so far is as advertised. Don’t need near the amount of firewood to reach a wonderful heat level. Wish they would have used a different shipping vendor versus USPS…very slow at receiving items. But overall very satisfied!This firepit is awesome!!! It’s everything they say it is. No smoke, tons of heat and you and your clothes don’t smell like firewood!!! I thought it was to good to be true but the solo stove really performs like they say. I would recommend it to anyone. Excellent product!!!Bliss, no more complaints about flying ash.The shield is in two parts, a lower and upper portion, the latter akin to a lid.I'm not sure why this should be so, if adding more fuel, I always lift the entire shield. The lower half may afford a degree of protection whilst chucking in more logs, who knows.The shield ships with a couple of handles which can be hooked into it for manoeuvring, they have been sent to the darkest recesses of the shed, never to venture out again, the heat proof gloves work just as well.Finally, apply all caution. using the shield doesn't eliminate the danger. When the fire is lit, just like the pit itself, the shield will become insanely hot.It has proved a great purchase for me, the mess that resulted from an evening spent around the fire is no longer there.I bought a Solo Stove Bonfire model as a garden firepit, and the wife insisted that I purchase the Shield to stop sparks jumping out the fire. This it does, mostly, some sparks still manage to jump out but are 99.9% reduced. The price, however: £170 for this Shield; I love the Bonfire and the secondary burn is fun to see, but smokeless or not, the price is eye-watering. You'd have to really want it, or in my case, be told you can't use the firepit without it.This may be a little on the expensive side but it is a quality bit of kit that does the job.Does exactly what you want it to, works well. But for over $200 it's highway robbery from Solo. I love my Solo, but this isn't worth the price.I love itSecures when making a fire, really do not any sparks to flySafety first
