This is a very nice collection of contemporary piano pieces, some more accessible than others. Wide-ranging in style and mood. Highlights include the beautiful "Clair de Lune" by Gabrielle Faure (not to be confused with the better-known piece of the same name by Debussy), the lovely "Anniversary of Felicia Montealegre" by Leonard Bernstein, the jazzy "Lento" by Cyril Scott, the appealing "Three-Score Set" by William Schuman, the classic showpiece "Tocatta" by Aram Khachaturian, and the Amerindian rhapsody "Prelude No. 2" by Carlos Chavez. The difficulty ranges from intermediate to advanced, with the ones listed above (and some others) more on the intermediate end of that range. An appealing volume for study, practice and performance.
